Early Readers Reading Log & Activity Challenges

Complete the challenge and earn a t-shirt!  (while supplies last)

Middle Readers

Every book you read fill out a "Window Slip" with your name and book title and give to a librarian for a SCRATCH TICKET!  Limit one SCRATCH TICKET a day June 1st through July 1st (on days the library is open).
Going into 1st --> 5th Grade
 

Teen Readers

Read Beyond the Beaten Path Challenge

Challenge yourself to read beyond your usual genre(s)! Read a book from each genre and mark off when done. After you've read at least 5 genres, return this sheet to the library by August 12th to be entered to win a PRIZE!
Going into 6th --> 12th Grade
 

Teen Readers

Every book you read fill out a "Window Slip" with your name and book title and give to a librarian for a colorful waterproof water bottle sticker!  Limit one Prize per genre through August 12th.

2022 WEEKLY FEATURED READERS

HOW IT WORKS

Featured Readers Ages 3 years old to going into 5th Grade.
Featured Readers must live in Mechanicsville, IA or be a rural patron in Mechanicsville, IA area.
One Featured Reader will be randomly selected a week. (A child can be Featured Reader only once per summer.)
Enter child's name at the Early Reader or Middle Reader weekly programs.
Library will pick one name a week from those who were in attendance that week.
Names drawn will get a sign in their yard for approximately 5-7 Days (1 week)
    SIGNS WILL BE PASSED FROM ONE READER TO ANOTHER.
    PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THE SIGNS.
    SIGNS WILL BE PICKED UP (RETURNED) & HANDED OUT ON FRIDAYS IF POSSIBLE.
    (*Rural patrons need to be able to pick-up and return signs on Fridays)
Parent/Guardian will fill out FEATURED READER FORM and will take a digital photo at the Feature Reader’s home (or a public area) and email it to mdehmer@mechanicsville.lib.ia.us.
The picture and short blurb about Featured Reader will be share on social media.
***Requires signed permission from parent guardian to participate | this is included in the FEATURED READER FORM.  
    (First name and details from the Featured Reader Form will be shared.)
