2016 Community Foundation of Cedar County Spring Grant Recipients
(April 2016) CEDAR COUNTY, Iowa – Thirty-three Cedar County non-profits received a combined $83,810 in grant funding from the Community Foundation of Cedar County. Award checks for the spring grant cycle were presented April 21 at the Cedar County Fairgrounds.
Recipients were selected from a pool of 45 applicants requesting funds totaling more than $206,000 for projects to benefit the residents of Cedar County. Since the Foundation made its first grant awards in 2006, more than $916,000 has been awarded to area organizations.
The Foundation receives funds annually from the statewide County Endowment Fund program. Funding for the program is made possible through state gambling revenues and is intended for distribution to counties without gaming licenses.
This year projects benefited every Cedar County town and several county-wide organizations also received funding. In alphabetical order, grant recipients, project names and award amounts are as follows:

In the fall, the Foundation will award two $10,000 matching funds grants. The deadline for applications is Sept. 15, 2016. The guidelines and application will be made available in July.
A component fund of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend in the Quad-Cities, the Community Foundation of Cedar County was established in February 2005. Current board members include: Larry Beck, Lynn Butterbrodt, Amy Heinen, Phil Keese, Jan Olsen, Shanelle Peden, Orville Randolph, David Shinker, Dawn Smith, Melinda Stonebraker, Troy Vincent. Aaron Horman serves as Executive Secretary.
